Frequently asked questions
Clear, concise information. An individual assessment always requires a personal consultation and examination.
What is the difference between manual medicine and chiropractic care?
Terminology varies according to country, professional regulation and training. In Germany, “Manuelle Medizin/Chirotherapie” refers to an additional medical qualification for physicians. “Chiropractic care” is a broader term for manual examination and treatment methods involving the musculoskeletal system. Training pathways vary internationally, so a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree or study at a US college should not be assumed for every practitioner.
What matters is the practitioner’s documented training, legal scope of practice where treatment takes place, and a careful examination. We explain our qualifications transparently and discuss which approach may be suitable for your situation.
Will my health insurance reimburse treatment costs?
Full or partial reimbursement for physiotherapy or chiropractic services depends on your policy, country of insurance, any requirement for a medical prescription and your insurer’s terms. Please check coverage directly with your German or international health insurer before treatment begins. We can provide information about the planned service and price in advance.
What happens at the first appointment?
We first discuss your symptoms, relevant medical history and goals. This is followed by an examination tailored to your situation. We explain possible approaches, alternatives and limitations. If medical clarification is advisable, we will recommend it before or alongside further treatment.
Do I need a medical prescription?
This may depend on the service, your health situation and your insurer’s requirements. If in doubt, ask your insurer beforehand and bring any existing reports or prescriptions to your appointment.
Is English-speaking chiropractic care available in Mallorca?
Yes. At our clinic in Port d’Andratx, consultations are available in English, German and Spanish. We discuss your symptoms, examination findings and possible next steps in your preferred language.
For which symptoms might chiropractic care be considered?
Following an individual examination, manual or chiropractic methods may be considered for certain functional musculoskeletal problems, including back or neck discomfort and restricted joint mobility. Suitability cannot be determined from a symptom alone. Acute or unexplained symptoms should be assessed by a doctor.
How can I identify a qualified chiropractor in Mallorca?
Look for clearly documented education and continuing training, legal authority to practise locally, a thorough history and examination, and understandable information about the proposed approach, alternatives and limitations. Our clinic is registered as a healthcare centre in the Balearic Islands, and Kai-Michael von Hunnius’s qualifications are listed on the home page.
Do you offer home, hotel or boat visits in Mallorca?
Yes, home, hotel and boat visits may be arranged in advance. Please contact us by phone or WhatsApp to ask about availability, travel area and price.
